Art Alliance Of Central PA
Fall 2013 Art Classes for Teens
Painting Class for Teens
Wednesdays 4:15-5:45 pm 6 weeks Oct. 2 - Nov. 6 Fee: $95
What does it mean to paint traditionally? What techniques did the master artists use to create
their memorable works of art? How do contemporary artists paint? What techniques do they
employ? What does painting mean to you? In this class we will work together to explore the
possibilities of paint; to plant the seeds to create your own visual masterpieces. We'll look at
the work of artists throughout our history as well as living contemporary artists to generate ideas.
Fundamental studio practices will be studied: figure, landscape, and still life. Contemporary studio practice will also be studied such as processed art and installation art. This is a class where we will have fun, get messy, and work hard - where everyone's point of view about art is supported and pushed forward.
Class to be taught by Melissa Forkner. She taught a summer painting class for teens at the Art Alliance that culminated in an exhibition of the students' work at Rhoneymeade Sculpture Garden.
