Inservice Days at the Art Alliance
Come and spend the day with us! We offer a full day of art
from 9 am - 3 pm
for only $30 when SCASD is having an inservice day.
Bring your own bag lunch. Fee includes a peanut-free
snack and all supplies.

4-week Drawing Classes

Learn basic realist drawing techniques. All

Comics & Cartoons
Saturday, January 28 1 - 4 pm
Ages 7 - 12
Instructor: Adam Swartz
Learn all about drawing cartoon and graphic novel characters
and techniques for
animation. Returning students will be encouraged to build on their
previous cartooning
experiences and to further develop their characters.

Papercutting Valentines
Saturday, February 11 1 - 4 pm
Ages 8 & up **
Instructor: Harriet Rosenberg
Learn the four basic forms of papercutting and make special
valentines for your
friends and family.
**This workshop is for teens and adults as well as children
aged 8 and older who
are accompanied by an adult.
Fee: $30 single, $45 pair
Love Birds & Love Bugs
Sunday, February 12 12:30 - 3:30 pm
Ages 7 - 11
Instructor: Maddie Tyska
With Valentine's Day right around the corner come and create
unique love bird
and love bug ornament sculptures for special people. We will use recycled
objects,
found materials, and lots of love!

Digital Photography Basics
Saturday, February 18
10 am - noon Ages 7-11
Instructor: Bob Baumbach
New camera? Or one you haven't figured out yet? Come and
learn how a digital
camera works and what those buttons do! Bring your own camera and learn to
take
better shots and some fun things to do with digital cameras.

Let's Work Together
Art Workshop
Saturday, February 25 1 - 3:30 pm
Adult and child art workshop taught by Michele Rivera
which will foster creativity
and cooperation. You will work on both an individual and a partnership
project of
mixed medium. Supplies and peanut-free snack provided. Just bring the two
of you
and dive in!

Synesthesia
Saturday, March 17 1 - 4 pm
Ages 7-11
Instructor: Paloma Frumento
Experiment with "joined perception" by representing senses
other than sight,
primarily sound and touch, through visual arts. Link different aspects of
vision and learn
the meanings represented through color. Join Paloma for a creative
afternoon of artistic
exploration and looking at things in a new way!

Picture This, Picture That
A portrait workshop for adult and child together!
Saturday, March 24 1 - 3:30 pm
Instructor: Michele Rivera
Foster creativity and cooperation as two of you work on both
an individual and a
partnership portrait project. Supplies and peanut-free snack are provided.
Just bring
the two of you and dive in!

Springtime Chimes
Saturday, March 31 2 - 5 pm
Instructor: Maddie Tyska
You will creatively combine a multitude of materials to
create a colorful and sparkling
wind chime. The afternoon will explore themes of nature, sustainability,
recycled materials
and Spring!
Fee: $30

Teacher Bios
Bob Baumbach
A retired high school art teacher
from State College, Bob taught many mediums and
started the high school photography program over twenty years ago. He has
seen the
photo program at State High through the digital revolution. He has taught
crafts, drawing
and painting and has taught adult education watercolor classes for the
State College
Community Education Program. Bob is also active with Italian Street
Painting at the Arts
Festival and has been a guest artists at other Festivals. You can review

Paloma Frumento:
A recent graduate of Columbia
University, Paloma has spent time teaching art both
in Harlem and Ecuador! She brings her love for art
education to our program, along
with her enthusiasm and projects.
Michele Rivera:
Michele is the founder of Artistic
Horizon Art Center and the BearsThat Care program.
She is originally from Brooklyn, N.Y. but left the city to
raise her children in Happy Valley.
She graduated from The School of Visual Arts at
Penn State and Kingsborough
Community College in New York. Michele works in ceramics,
metals and watercolors
Veronica Winters:
Veronica is a Russian fine artist who graduated with her MFA degree in
painting
from Penn State in 2005. She is devoted to full-time work in studio painting and
drawing, concentrating on high quality production of artwork. She gives private
art
lessons to both children and adults. Her native country is always a source
ofcultural
inspiration and contrasting values. Her gallery is posted at

Adam Swartz
Adam has a BA in
Integrative Arts from PSU. He has taught acting and visual arts
for Centre Learning Community Charter School. Adam has traveled the
country
with the Itinerant Theatre Company and Middle Earth Studios.
