Art Alliance 2008 Juried Show
March 21 - April 23
at the Robeson Gallery HUB Robeson Center, Penn State University
Since 1968 the Art Alliance of Central Pennsylvania has
provided opportunities for people
to learn, teach, and exhibit art in State College and surrounding
communities. This show
celebrates our 40th Anniversary and showcases the work of Central
Pennsylvania’s many
talented artists.
Eligibility
The show is open to artists 18 years and older who live within a 100-mile radius
of State College, PA.
Eligible Work and Restrictions
Two- and three-dimensional works that have been completed within the last three
years are
eligible.
• 2D work is not to exceed 84” in any direction and 40 pounds in weight.
• Poorly framed work, clips, brackets, partial frames, wet work will not
be accepted. Unframed work
and glass framed work will not be accepted.
• 3D work is not be heavier than 100 pounds. The piece must be stable in
its position and
securely attached to its base and able to fit through a 7ft x 10 ft door.
• Work containing open food products or bio-hazardous materials are
prohibited.
Note: The juror reserves the right to reject entries that do not
meet these requirements.
Insurance and Consent to Reproduce
All works will be insured for their sale price or the declared insurance
value while in the care
of the exhibit sites. This exhibit requires that all artwork must have a
value placed on it for
insurance purposes even if it is not for sale. Works will be insured for
the value indicated on
the entry form by the HUB/Robeson Galleries. Consent to reproduce for
publicity, catalog, or
educational purposes is assumed, unless specifically reserved in writing.
Submission of
entry constitutes agreement to all conditions of the entry process.
Entry Process
Each artist can submit up to two pieces for consideration. The completed
entry form, along
with digital images of the work you are submitting and the entry fee are
due in the office of the
Art Alliance by February 22, 2008, either by e-mail
(info@artalliancepa.org) or US
Postal
service. 2D work: Use one image for each piece. 3D work: Up to two images
per piece may
be submitted.
Please indicate the dimensions of your submitted work and label each image
with your last
name, first initial, and title of the piece.
The quality of the images is important not only for the jurying process but also
because the
images will be used in the exhibit catalogue.

Judging and Prizes
More than $2000 in prizes will be awarded by our juror. All judging will
be done by digital
images. A show list of accepted works will be posted March 1-3 on the Art
Alliance website,
www.artalliancepa.org
.Receiving
Artists whose work has been accepted for the exhibit may deliver their
work to the Art
Alliance on Wednesday, March 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. or Thursday, March 6, from
9 a.m. until
1 p.m. Make sure your piece is labeled with your name, title of the piece,
medium and year it
was created.
Sales and Catalogue
Works may be for sale. Buyers interested in works will be put in contact
with the Art Alliance,
which will charge a commission of 20% of the selling price. The
HUB/Robeson Galleries will
produce a catalogue of works in the exhibit.
Show Dates, Hours and Opening Reception
The exhibit will run from Friday, March 21 until Wednesday, April 23. The
gallery is open from
noon until 6 p.m, Tuesday through Sunday. The opening reception will be
held on Thursday,
April 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robeson Gallery in the HUB Robeson Center
on the campus
of Penn State. Parking is available in the nearby Nittany Parking Deck on
Shortlidge Road.

About the Juror
Lisa Tremper Hanover has been the director of the Philip and Muriel Berman
Museum of Art
since 1987. Since opening to the public in October 1989, more than 200
exhibitions have
been presented in addition to related events held in conjunction with
installations and use of
the permanent collection. She has established partnerships with The Wood
Turning Center,
the Philadelphia/Tri-State Artist Equity, the Philadelphia and
Pennsylvania Water Color
Societies, and other national organizations to host annual juried
exhibitions that have given a
voice to more than 1,000 contemporary artists. Lisa has juried more than
50 art exhibitions
and public art commissions in the Tri-State and at the national level and
served on the Board
of Directors of the Wayne Art Center, and the Wood Turning Center of
Philadelphia. In
addition, she is the President of the Association of College and
University Museums and
Galleries, a national organization.
