Pastel Workshop at Penn State's Palmer Museum of Art
May 2 and May 10 - Noon to 3:00PM
Pastel is a distinctive medium that is applied in layers to
create brilliant colors and soft
textural effects. Join pastel artist and Art Alliance teacher Linda
Schimmel for an
intensive two-session workshop at the Palmer Museum of Art, inspired by
its exhibition
"G. Daniel Massad: Loading the Work." Workshop participants will view the
exhibition,
discuss personally meaningful iconography, and explore the possibilities
of the pastel
medium. There is no charge for this workshop, but participants must
attend both
sessions and bring their own supplies as designated by the instructor.
Pre-registration
is required; please contact Palmer Museum's Curator of Education at
(814) 863-9188
or e-mail dck10@psu.edu

Lou Dellaport Prints
The Art Alliance has been the fortunate recipient of a group of
prints done by Lou
Dellaport. His daughter Jennifer, who has most generously donated
these prints,
requests that proceeds go to the Art Alliance for scholarships
and awards at shows.
We hope to show images of these works on our web site for sale. The prints
are in a
variety of sizes and subjects including Old Main and Centre Furnace.
Further info soon.

Art Alliance Web Site Program
In discussions with artist members and the Art Alliance Board, there
seems to be a strong feeling that our web site should feature some
information and images about our
artists. The Board has approved a
pilot project which will be reviewed in six months.
We will include on the
web site any interested artist
member who has
had his or her work juried into at least one of our Juried Shows in the past
three years. The listing will include a short bio, two digital images of art work,
and a link to your own web site. There will be a fee of $25 per year.
The fee
is waived for artists who have taught Art Alliance classes in
the past
two years.
If you are interested in being included in this listing please call the
Art Alliance office.

Wi-Fi is here!
Our office wireless
network can now provide wireless access in the Art Center.
Teachers who
want to use their laptops in class to access the Internet for
images,
etc., may ask in the office for the password -- the network is
secure.
