                                  Summer Art Camps 2010

     Our summer camps offer a variety of individual and group experiences in drawing,
 painting, paper mache, printmaking, collage, puppets, cartooning, mural, mosaic, and
 sculpture.


    Camps are taught by professional artists/art teachers in a cool indoor studio with
 a lawn area for outdoor activities. Each one week camp has its own theme and offers
 a unique experience.

    Fees include art materials and snacks
    Families enrolling more than one camper may deduct $10 from the fee for each
additional sibling. A camper enrolling in more than one camp can deduct $10 from
second and subsequent fees.
    Enrollment in each camp is limited to 12 students, so early registration is recommended.
    Partial scholarships are available for financial needs.

Garden  Art     June 21 - 28    9 am - noon   CANCELLED
    Join Carrie for a great week of making outdoor art for your garden, art from garden
 items, and get to plant the Art Center flower garden! Take home your own decorated
 planter box and get lots of fresh air to start summer off right.  
    Ages 5 and up   $130
 
Monsters & Wild Things     June 28 - July 2    9 am - noon
      Combine books and art to create our own monster pillows, tribbles, paintings,
 costumes, and much more. Together with Carrie you will discover that monsters can
 be fun!
    Ages 5 - 8   $130
 
Mosaics     June 28 - July 2    1 – 4:30 pm
     Learn the interesting art and craft of mosaic with Terry, through examples and projects.
 Use broken pottery, stones, tiles, shells, glass and tesserae. Bring items to recycle and
 incorporate into personal works of mosaic art.
    Ages 10 and up   $145

3-D Paint Studio  July 12 - 16    1 - 4:30 pm  OR July 19 - 23    9 am - 12:30 pm  
    Prepare to GET MESSY ! You will use acrylics to decorate small items like
 frames, bowls and boxes. Bring along your own items, too! Beverly will share secret
 wild design tricks.
    Ages 10 and up   $135
 
Make A Masterpiece    July 19 - 23    1 - 4:30 pm
    Beverly is back with a whole new set of artists and their works to learn about and
 plenty of opportunities to create your own pieces to treasure!
    Ages 8 - 12    $130

Mural  Project       July 26 - 30    10 am - 2 pm
    An opportunity to design and paint a full-size mural on a garage wall.  Work
 alongside with, and learn from Kelly for an experience to remember!
    Ages 11 and up   $140

Puppets       July 26 - 30    1 - 4:30 pm
      Join Adam for a week of puppeteering! Learn all about the world of puppets
 and make your own using all sorts of fun materials. Be a part of a show at the end
 of camp on Friday for your family to come see!
    Ages 7 - 12    $130

Comics & Cartoons     August 2 - 6    1 - 4:30 pm  
     Adam will teach you how to create cartoon characters of your own and make
 a comic book! Design a cartoon and put it on a t-shirt to keep. Always a popular
 week at camp - now choose from 2 weeks.
    Ages 7 - 12    $135

Celebrate Worldwide     August 2– 6    9 am - noon
    With Carrie you will explore art from all over the worldthrough holiday celebrations.
 Koru paintings, Day of the Dead skull masks, piñatas, didgeridoos and so much
 more awaits you!
    Ages 5-8    $130

Folk Art, Pop Art, Tribal Art, & Native Art     August 9 - 13    1 - 4:30 pm
    This week is full of unusual art forms that anyone can do. We'll make penny rugs,
 a painted checkerboard, a pop art box, aboriginal riock painting, a tribal mask, and
 our own version of the painting "A Peaceable Kingdom."
    Ages 7 - 12    $130
 
Beach Week     August 16 - 20    9 am - noon
     Run away to the beach! Sun, sand, and water make for great art materials
 and Carrie will have you using these things and other materials to make ocean
 themed art.
    Ages 5-8    $130

Clay & Textiles    August 16 - 20    1 - 4:30 pm   FULL- WAITING LIST IS AVAILABLE
    Carrie will help you make pinch pots, tiles and clay creations. When not doing
 clay you’ll explore textiles through weaving, stitching and other unique ways.
    Ages 7 –12    $130

Time Travelers     August 23 - 27    9 am - noon
      Art from the past, the present and the future. Join Carrie and see where the
 time travel machine takes you each day. Think dinosaurs, robots, medieval times
 and more!
    Ages 5 - 8   $130

Clay With Ellie    August 23 - 27    1 - 4:30 pm   FULL-- WAITING LIST IS AVAILABLE
  Using clay and materials from nature you will create artwork and vessels to use at home
 that will help you remember this last week of summer! Instruction on our potter's wheel
 will be available.

                                Our Fabulous Instructors

 Adam Swartz has a BA in Integrative Arts from PSU. He has taught acting and visual
 arts for Centre Learning Community Charter School. Adam has traveled the country with
 the Itinerant Theatre Company and Middle Earth Studios. He builds puppets and performs
 original and commissioned projects. He is an accomplished whistler.

 Carrie Koch has a BS in Elementary Education from PSU and loves interacting with
 children. She has visited every elementary school in State College as a guest teacher.
 She has tried just about every hobby in the world before latching on to needle arts.

 Beverly Crow has a BS in Art Education from PSU. Her passions are kids and art!
 Currently she is using her creative talents as a para-professional at Easterly Parkway
 Elementary. Beverly is also a local artist who paints furniture, does portraits, and designs
 unique pieces of jewelry.

 Kelly Green Barter is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a B.A. in Fine Art
 and Photography and a M.A. in Art. She began painting murals when she was ten years
 old starting with her bedroom wall and she believes art should be all around us and a part
 of everyday life. She does commissions of home and business murals.

 Terry Johnson received her M.F.A. from PSU and started a small tile studio, choosing
 one form of ceramics and focusing on it exclusively. She has taught for Penn State
 Altoona and sold her tiles in galleries and stores here and abroad. Drawing from various
 personal interests, Terry continues to move whatever captures her imagination into
 narrative form through terra-cotta tiles, mosaics, and relief molding.

 Ellie Reddy earned a B.S. in Art Education from Penn State and an M.Ed from Tyler School
 of Art.  She has been an art educator for 36 years teaching elementary through high school
 levels and has taught drawing, watercolor and ceramic workshops at C. Barton McCann
 School of Art.
